The bios would boot using the configured raid array, then the OS would just seen individual drives. To bypass it, I just set up 2 raid0 arrays (one per drive). There is still a software layer involved, but it makes the boot process and the OS agree on drive layout. Access HP Proliant DL385 BIOS [closed]. So I just recently got my hands on a cheap HP DL360 G6, and have already started investigating some cheap hardware upgrades for the thing. It's the perfect balance of old enough that additional hardware is relatively cheap to come by, but recent enough to not be terrible in terms of performance, virtualisation support and not dimming the lights in the neighbourhood when powering the thing on. It's currently on its way, and hopefully should arrive by this Friday or Monday.

I have grand plans for the thing, involving a CPU upgrade, memory upgrades and possibly installing an additional SAS backplane for more storage, but before doing anything crazy, I figured the best thing to do would be to get all the necessary firmware up to date, including the server's BIOS.

..and that's the part where I learnt that in 2014, HP decided to specifically put server firmware behind a paywall, requiring a support contract with HP to gain access to BIOS downloads.

So this is where I need your help. I'd like to download the latest server BIOS for the ProLiant DL360 G6. As far as I can tell, only this and the HP Service Pack is behind the paywall, and all other drivers and stuff are publicly accessible. I either need a kind soul to download the BIOS for me, or offer some advice on how to get around HP's paywall without forking out money for a support contract for a retired server I bought for peanuts off of eBay.

Can anyone out there with access to HP support give me a hand?

This is a multi-part question so please bear with me.. I'm new to HP servers.
I bought 3 HP Proliant DL380 G5 servers at a really good price but I'm having a lot of trouble getting them to load Windows 2003 Server Enterprise. I started out using HP Smart Start Cd version 8.70B but received an error 'file $win_nt$. bt halaacpi.dll' and installation would stop. After searching I found out that Smart Start 8.70B had some issues with 2003 Server and I needed to download the 8.60 version.
I downloaded 8.60 and started loading the server. This time it got to the point where it spit the CD out and rebooted in to Windows setup. After just a few minutes I get the 'Blue Screen of Death' saying something about 'Driver-IRQL-NOT-LESS_OR_EQUAL' HPCISSs2.sys. When I look up this error I'm told I need a different driver but that I need to update the firmware of the P400 RAID controller.
I go the HP site and look for the firmware driver and I find it but from what I can tell it requires Windows to load it. Well, if I could get windows to load I wouldn't need it.
Anyway, is there a way to update the firmware on the HP DL380 G5 without being in windows? If so can someone give me step-by-step instructions on how to do it? I'm not the sharpest tool in the shed so it needs to be the 'Firmware update for Dummy's' version of the instructions.
