- Troubleshoot the number of beeps that the e-DiagTool emits. Refer to the following table for additional information: Issue0 Beeps. - Check the power cord is connected at both ends
- Make sure the voltage setting is correct for your country (refer to the User's Guide for more information)
- Make sure everything is properly connected within the PC
- Make sure the power switch mechanism is working (check the status panel connection to the system board).
- If the problem persists, replace the Power Supply.
- If a light comes on when Power button is held down, power is coming to the system board.
- Clear CMOS using the switch on the system board
- Make sure the voltage setting is correct for your country (refer to the User's Guide for more information)
- Make sure everything is properly connected within the PC
- If the problem persists, replace the motherboard.
Processor absent, not seated properly, or processor socket not closed- Check to see that the processor is seated properly in the socket
- Check the processor for obvious problems with the pins and reseat the processor.
- If Steps 1 and 2 do not fix the problem, replace the motherboard (the processor socket itself is probably damaged).

This error does not necessarily indicate a power supply failure.- Determine whether the machine is a Vectra VL400 or a Brio BA410. If the machine is neither, continue on to the other steps.If the PC is a Vectra VL400, the problem could be due to the coin-sized battery on the motherboard being unseated or dead. Does the PC boot if the intrusion switch cable is unplugged and the battery is removed? If so, reseating or replacing the battery should fix the problem.If the PC is a Brio BA410 and if it was unplugged from the mains the power supply may not starting up properly the first try you press the power button. Press the power button a second time to boot the PC.
- Unplug the power cord from the back of the PC while checking all items. Once the power supply is in protected mode, power must be unplugged for at least 15 seconds before the system will power up

- The power supply may be too hot: check the fan to see if there is a blockage or to see if the fan is working.
- There may be a short circuit on the motherboard: unplug PCI cards and power from all devices (FDD, HDD, CDD) and try to power up again.
No Memory, bad memory modules, incompatible memory module- If the PC is a Brio BA410, for certain types of memory, the issue could be related to a timing issue involving the BIOS.Upgrade the BIOS to version IO.07.07 or later, and check whether the problem persists before performing additional troubleshooting.
- Ensure that the memory is properly seated in socket.
- Reseat memory.
- Ensure that HP memory is installed in the system.
- Ensure that memory types have not been mixed (PC100 with PC133 for example) 6 If none of these work, replace the memory.
Video hardware issue- Depending on the model of HP PC, the video failure is likely due to an add-on video card or the onboard video chip.
- Try to boot using onboard video (if applicable).
- Clear CMOS using switch on motherboard to reset hardware configuration.
- If all tests fail, contact your Support Provider.
5 Beeps- Remove all PCI cards.
- Clear CMOS.
- Try to boot.
- If this test fails, PCI slots may be bad, replace the motherboard.
Corrupted BIOSRun the Crisis Recovery procedure (APPLIES to VECTRA only).To run the Crisis Recovery procedure for the Vectra, perform the following steps:- Create a crisis recovery floppy.
- Flip the crisis recovery switch.
- Boot from the floppy.
- Reset the switch, remove floppy, and reboot.
